THUNDERBUG PROJECT
Bug-me
This is a few pictures of my 1974 Baja Project. It is named Thunderbug because I am using a 1985 Ford Turbocoupe Thunderbird engine in it. This will give me 200 H.P, fuel injection water cooled power and heat. This should make an excellent driver and creek machine. It will by going through a 1974 IRS Type 2 tranny and the same CV's at all four ends. Built custom rear IRS arms that give 4" of lift and keep the tire in the fender wells for street use. Twisted front beam and 3" body lift. The widest Mark 5 body kit and I am working on a rear wing from aluminum that will house the radatior,A/C condensor and electric fans. It looks like a pro-street bug wing. Running the 31" tall x 13.5" wide BFG Mudders at all four corners on AWG 15" x 10" wheels all the way around. I hope you like it and I will update as I get new pictures. These are already outdated.
Top picture is of the fitting of the double tube front bumper, it is from Latest Rage, good product for not much $$$. This is also another shot of the Mark 5 wide body Baja Kit. It is heavy glass and fit is usual Baja fit. I like most cut to much off the front even though it was cut about 6 times, it was still to much.
Bottom shot is 3/4 side view. In these pictures the front has not been cut and turned yet. Only the 3" body lift has been installed. This shot also shows the tire and wheel combo I am running at all four corners. I also have a set of 30"x9.5" All-Terrains for front sand running. Also not shown in these pictures are the roof rack light bar spare tire rack and nerf bars. The roof rack was made from two Latest Rage light bars and some tubing and expanded metal. By the way I do not work for or have any ties to Latest Rage, they just offer stuff for less $$$. My personal favorite!

Please e-mail me your comments. Anyone that owns or is building a water cooler Baja let me know and send a picture. I am also very interested in the German look VW's. This is what my son wants so I would love to hear from anyone that has one or is building one up. Bug-me

Faster, bigger and most important cheaper!
